Hurricane Katrina ~ August 29, 2005

Hurricane Katrina directly hit Louisiana coast lines, then the eye directly passed over the Mississippi Coast and directly over Poplarville, Ms..  We are all safe in God's name, our children, sister, brothers and friends... Katrina's wrath left devastation beyond belief for our family living in St. Bernard Parish and St. Tammany Parish..  Katrina's powerful winds and rushing water filled their homes~ taking everything~ leaving nothing behind; but sweet memories~ broken hearts~ many tears~ grieving souls~ for Louisiana is our home.

The fury of Katrina was merciful on us~ leaving significant wind damages to our home, barn, several mature Oak trees and miles of fences. Our loses are minimal compared to our relatives, friends and so many families who are devastated and displaced by the flooding water.

The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina has been emotionally overwhelming, families torn, people struggling for life, no words can explain the devastation experienced in the past weeks. Life continues; each faced with sadness in some degree or another; Each day God brings a glimpse of courage, peace, patience and unity for all of our family.

I pray today for our Lord to grant us peace for those who struggle with grief, bring us inspiration to guide us to a new path of life, grant us strength to recovery, bless the most abandoned families and those in need the most.  We ask for God's mercy and prays for the displaced families, for those who lost their lives and the animals who did not survive.

The National Guards were exceptional and we would like to give a very special thanks to the Kentucky National Guards for their heart warming compassion to us and to our town.

To all of our family and friends who tried to contact us during the storm, we deeply appreciate your prays, efforts and concerns.

Thank YOU and God Bless,
Susan Blake

As of 9/21/05 three weeks into Hurricane Katrina, our power and phone service has been temporarily restored, but, with continued power surges making it difficult to communicate to so many..

Our thoughts and prays for Colors Of The Wind, who took a direct hit in Louisiana from Hurricane Katrina losing over 50+ Tennessee Walking Horses. Recently purchasing our very special boy ..Shades Gold Buster.. we pray for his survival and for the safety to so many other beautiful horses unaccounted for at Colors Of The Wind.
